KTM Seal & Sand Primer

KTM-Seal & Sand is a water-borne, all acrylic, system formulated for sealing porous wood surfaces. It can be applied prior to a staincoat to reduce stain absorption or atop a stain coat. While the system is UV resistant and resists yellowing, it must be top coated. The wet film, when applied is milky in appearance but, dries fast and clear. KTM-Seal & Sand exhibits early block resistance and hardness. KTM-Seal & Sand dries quickly and is easy to sand. It is designed to be applied @ 3.5 to 4 mils wet to allow good flow into the substrate thus filling the open grain. When dry, it is easily sanded and demonstrates good pore filling properties. KTM stains and/or KTM topcoats have excellent adhesion to KTM-Seal & Sand.

KTM-Seal & Sand:

1. KTM-Seal & Sand should be stored at temperatures above freezing. KTM-Seal & Sand should be applied at room temperature.

2. Storage, pumping, mixing, handling and application equipment should be durable plastic or stainless steel whenever long liquid contact can be expected. Aluminum or brass fittings should be avoided.

3. Care must be taken to remove lacquers or lacquer thinners from spray equipment before using KTM- Seal & Sand. Clean lines with: a) lacquer thinner; b) run alcohol through the lines; then, c) water flush.

4. Equipment must be kept clean and clean-up should be done as soon as possible when shutting down for an extended period.

5. When using KTM-Seal & Sand with wood preservatives, they must be thoroughly dry before applying KTM-Seal & Sand.
