KTM-Stain And Grain is the original 2-Step Finishing process that transforms fiberglass, steel, garage or even interior molded doors from the ordinary to the extraordinary! For years fiberglass doors have been finished like real wood doors, and to no one’s surprise wood finishes just don’t hold up on fiberglass! KTM has pioneered the way to understanding and figuring out the correct way to finish the fiberglass door. Our finishes are second to none. We’ve been copied but other finishes frankly don’t come close to duplicating our colors, process, and method for making fiberglass look like wood.

The first coat is "Step #1", forms the background color and "Step #2", the topcoat highlights the embossed grain and tones the background color giving the look of wood. Each color is specifically formulated to render the desired color, depth and effect you want in the finished door. Many questions have been asked about using a clearcoat over the KTM-Wood Grain.KTM-SV, our exterior rated clearcoat is fully compatible with and will increase the performance properties of the Stain And Graining / stain and grain system for those who decide they need it.

Step 1
 Solid, pigmented, background color—spray or brush, controls the background color development eliminating variations in color common in transparent stain systems.
Step 2
 Solid, pigmented, background color--Sparingly applied by brush, graining pad, or spray evenly on door surface. Excess then wiped off using paper towel for beautiful, even finish
Tip!
 ‘Grain’ coat dries slowly, allowing ample “working-time”. (If relative humidity is low (less than 68%RH), grain coat may dry too fast. Use room humidifier to delay drying and prolong worktime.)
